We are grateful that Jodie Cooper, a Wellness Life Coach and Positive Psychology Practitioner became 'locked-down' in our community during COVID-19 restrictions of 2020. Jodie and her young family were travelling Australia in their caravan. Jodie is a big believer in travel and new experiences generating happiness and that you can bring that feeling home. So much so that she wrote a book about it!
Bringing Happiness Home - Jodie Cooper
Jodie worked in Break O'Day Council and led the design of a wellbeing project using Positive Psychology to support local people to take actions to notice what works well, and then do more of it, to create ripples of wellbeing across our community.
We are grateful that The Tasmanian Community Fund funded our pilot project in 2021 that is due to end in 2025. We are grateful to The Wellbeing Lab for their mentorship and support as we learned how to help each other learn and grow wellbeing.
Thank you to everyone who participated in 2021 and 2022. For your wisdom and for the generous way you shared and learned together, supported each other and taught us so much. Special thanks to our trainers and mentors, Jodie, Debbie, Alli, Renee and Anna for your guidance, wisdom, warmth and energy.
We are grateful for the guidance, wisdom and support of the Training Team, Advisory Group and the Evaluation Team from the University of Tasmania. All have been open to learning with us along the way, and for being friendly, encouraging and wise voices to guide us.
This collection of wellbeing information is managed by Break O'Day Council to share wellbeing ideas with even more people in our community and to help ensure that the ripple effects of local actions will continue to impact our community.
Break O’Day is home to about 6,500 people and welcomes thousands more visitors each year who come to enjoy our stunning natural values, mountain bike trails, fishing, festivals and much, much more.
Our Local Government Area extends 3809 square kilometres along the east coast of Tasmania from Eddystone Point (larapuna) and Mt William National Park in the north, to Denison River in the south, and inland to a boundary between the townships of Fingal and Avoca in the west.
Our region boasts diverse landscapes of mountains, coasts, rivers, forests and farmlands. Our communities and townships are scattered across a large area and each one has a unique local sense of place.
We know why YOU love living here because we keep asking you... and we keep getting the same answers...

Thank you to everyone who has shared.
